UPDATE: Linkin Park's "The Emptiness Machine" leads a surge in LP listening at Spotify. The band's new single hit a new peak of #6 worldwide on Monday, as four other cuts make significant gains. "One Step Closer" was the greatest gainer on the platform, rising 70 spots to #122. Linkin Park have two songs in the Top 30 with "Numb climbing to #29.
FROM 9/9
With Emily Armstrong as the band's new co-vocalist, Linkin Park's "The Emptiness Machine" is off to a killer start at Spotify. The group's first new release in seven years was Spotify's top entry on Friday at #7, extending the hot streak for Aaron Bay-Schuck and Tom Corson's Warner.
The new single is still locked in the Top 10 on Monday, as it explodes at Rock and Alternative radio. Linkin Park's return, which included a livestream performance and a six-date arena run kicking off on 9/11 in Inglewood, also triggered a boost in listening across the band's catalog, as LP have five songs in Spotify's Top 200—four of them in the Top 100.
"The Emptiness Machine" is the top rock song on the global chart, followed by new and old cuts from Hozier, The Neighbourhood and Arctic Monkeys in the Top 20. We dare you to say rock is dead.
