OASIS DOMINATES U.K. ALBUM, SINGLES CHARTS

Oasis' magical return continues today (9/6) as the group reclaims the #1 spot on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart thanks to the 30th anniversary edition of its debut album, Definitely Maybe (Big Brother).

The beloved LP, which hit the top of the chart upon its September 1994 release, gives Liam and Noel Gallagher their first #1 in 14 years. More than half of Definitely Maybe's weekly sales total came from vinyl.

Oasis has two more records in today’s Top 5, with the 2009 hits compilation Time Flies… (1994-2009) at #3 and the band's second LP, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, right behind at #4.

Last week’s chart-topper, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet (Island) is down one to #2, while Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds earn a seventh Top 10 with Wild God (PIAS Recordings), at #5.

English rock act Wunderhorse has a career-best debut with its second set, Midas (Communion), opening at #6.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste” remains at #1 for a second week. It’s the most-streamed song of the past seven days, with 8m. Her “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” stick at #2 and #3, respectively, making Carpenter the first female artist ever to occupy the top three spots on the singles chart concurrently for two consecutive weeks. Only Ed Sheeran has achieved a similar feat, in 2017.

Meanwhile, the Definitely Maybe classic “Live Forever" is up 11 to a new peak of #8, besting the #10 position it reached upon its 1994 release. “Don’t Look Back in Anger” also returns to the Top 10 for the first time in 28 years, jumping seven rungs to #9. Oasis has never before logged two singles simultaneously in the Top 10 and just missed a third as "Wonderwall" ascends six to #11.
