Giant Music’s Cash Cobain is the latest Apple Music Up Next artist. His inclusion in the program coincides with the single “Act Like,” from his album Play Cash Cobain, due 8/23.
The promotion spans an Up Next film and interview with Apple Music 1’s Nadeska, among other benefits.
“Being an Apple Music Up Next artist means a lot to me," said Cobain. "I grew up on the iPod, iMac, MacBook, iTunes, etc.—it was all super-important to my musical journey. Now, they want to do all this for me? I can’t believe it! It makes me feel really special and I’m truly awed by the opportunity. Thank you to my fans, my team and the Apple family. This means the world.”
The short film finds Cash visiting his family home in Queens, where he picked up his style and sound, and reflecting on how the beats for songs like “JHOLIDAY,” “VACANT” w/Chow Lee and Don Toliver’s “ATTITUDE” originated there.
In the past year, Cobain’s music has skyrocketed on Apple Music, with his songs and tracks he's produced increasing more than 500% in streams globally. Key playlists like Rap Life, #OnRepeat and New Music Daily, meanwhile, have boosted his streams by over 3,400%
