Billy Joel's Emmy-nominated TV special The 100th: Live at Madison Square Garden—the official commemoration of his record-breaking 100th consecutive performance at MSG—will air as an encore presentation Friday (8/23) on CBS. The program debuted 4/14 and was rebroadcast five days later, with more than 24m viewers total tuning in.
The TV show of the MSG show, on which Sting and Jerry Seinfeld make guest appearances, represents Joel's first concert to air on a broadcast network. It garnered Emmy nods for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction, Outstanding Sound Mixing and Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork.
The 100th was co-produced by Sony Music Entertainment and Enliven Entertainment and directed by Paul Dugdale. It's distributed by Sony Music Vision.
Having wrapped his MSG residency earlier this summer, Joel will play a handful of U.S. stadiums throughout the fall, beginning 9/13 at Cleveland Browns Stadium. His only Los Angeles-area appearance will come 10/12 at the brand-new Intuit Dome.
As for HITS, we're just living here in Allentown, and they're closing all the factories down.
