A VOTING NOTE: CMA SECOND BALLOT CLOSES TONIGHT

Today (8/20) marks the close of CMA Awards second-ballot voting, which determines who will make it to the final round. The proverbial polls close at 6pm CT.

Will this once again be Lainey Wilson’s year? Many other strong female contenders, including Kacey Musgraves, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde and Megan Maroney, also grace the second-round card.

Meanwhile, Morgan Wallen has multiple tracks in various categories, from solo works to collabs from his latest album to his featured appearance on Post Malone’s smash “I Had Some Help.”

Could voters recognize Wallen in a meaningful way this year? Also of note: If “Help” makes the final ballot, it would be Posty’s first CMA Award nomination.

Polls open for the final round of voting on 10/1 and close 10/29.

The 2024 CMAs will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on a November date to be announced.
