While a logjam of major events ensnares Inglewood over the next several days, the music marches on elsewhere.
One week after Sabrina, Chappell and Post brought the lightning to Golden Gate Park at Outside Lands, System of a Down (WME) and Deftones (CAA) will conjure the thunder there tomorrow (8/17).
The alt-metal juggernauts, both managed by David "Beno" Benveniste and his company Velvet Hammer, sold out the Another Planet Entertainment/Live Nation-promoted event in 90 minutes. The Mars Volta (WME), Viagra Boys (Wasserman) and Vowws (33&West) are also on the bill.
Across the Pacific, Måneskin (ITB), Bring Me the Horizon (UTA) and OneRepublic (CAA) anchor Summer Sonic 2024, one of Japan's major festivals. The three-day affair is held simultaneously in Chiba (just east of Tokyo) and Osaka.
The alternative-flavored Pukkelpop Festival, the second-biggest in Belgium with crowds of nearly 180,000, began earlier this week and concludes Sunday. Featuring hundreds of bands over three days, it's headlined this year by Stormzy (WME), Fred again.. (Wasserman), The Offspring (CAA) and Sam Smith (CAA).
In Blighty, the two-weekend All Points East is underway at London's Victoria Park with six eclectic daily lineups. They include Nas, André 3000 and Flying Lotus (8/17); Mitski (pictured), new U.K. chart-topper Beabadoobee, Arlo Parks and Suki Waterhouse (8/18); LCD Soundsystem and Jai Paul (8/23); Justice (8/24); and The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie and recent Olympics darlings Phoenix (8/25).
