OUT AND ABOUT: Last weekend at San Francisco's Outside Lands festival, Sabrina Carpenter (CAA) sang a duet with surprise partner Kacey Musgraves (pictured), the Chappell Roan phenomenon continued full steam ahead and Grace Jones towered 60 feet above the stage.
In her first time topping a U.S. festival bill, Carpenter welcomed Musgraves for the Nancy Sinatra '60s kiss-off "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" and treated the crowd to the global smashes "Espresso" and "Please, Please, Please." It was a high-profile warm-up for the artist's AEG-promoted North American arena tour, which begins 9/23 in Columbus, Ohio.
Per the organizers, Roan (Wasserman) drew the biggest crowd of the weekend on Sunday, when Golden Gate Park was overwhelmed by a sea of pink. The day before, the 76-year-old Jones emerged wearing a six-story black-and-white dress designed by the late Keith Haring for the 1986 music video "I'm Not Perfect (But I'm Perfect for You)."
Fans also raved about Post Malone's country covers set on Sunday and the new outdoor SOMA dance stage, while two dozen couples either got married or renewed vows at "City Hall," an on-site venue built just for that purpose.
Outside Lands is produced by veteran Bay Area promoter Another Planet Entertainment, which is also teaming with Live Nation for a System of a Down one-off at the park this weekend.
BEACH BLANKET BINGO: Peso Pluma (CAA), Rauw Alejandro (CAA), Becky G (CAA) and Fuerza Regida turned up the heat at the Baja Beach Fest in La Playa de Rosarito over the weekend, selling out the annual three-day reggaeton and Latin-music fiesta in Baja California, Mexico. Friday headliner Alejandro lit up the stage with his trademark flair, performing his best-known songs and putting on a choreography clinic. Fans of old-school reggaeton were treated to memorable performances by legendary reggaetonero Yandel, Chencho Corleone of Plan B and Latin trap pioneer De La Ghetto. Superstar Pluma toplined Saturday’s festivities, drawing more than 50,000 attendees to the beach.
PEP IN YOUR STEP: The Red Hot Chili Peppers wrapped their Live Nation-promoted Unlimited Love Tour 7/30 in St. Louis, and the promoter is trumpeting it as one of the top three tours of the decade thanks to 3.4 million attendees at 86 headlining dates—66 in stadiums. The ageless rockers, who also performed yesterday as part of the Olympics closing ceremonies in Long Beach, California, are managed by Guy Oseary and booked by CAA.
FROM SCREEN TO STAGE: Disney and AEG are assembling talent from the hit franchises Descendants and Zombies for a summer 2025 concert tour dubbed Worlds Collide.
Kylie Cantrall, Malia Baker, Dara Reneé and Ruby Rose Turner of Descendants: The Rise of Red stars and Freya Skye and Malachi Barton of Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires have all signed on. The trek will be overseen by creative director Amy Tinkham.
