In our latest roundup, we present eight female stars of tomorrow from various parts of the biz whose dedication and effort make their superiors look good.
This week's entrants will also find their faces in our most recent mag. Lucky for them, this feature—and $28.95—will get them a "special" Erewhon smoothie, whatever that means.
Lexi Roney
Director of Brand Marketing, Stem
Among other highlights, Roney has enjoyed curating partnerships with brands and communities like Places+Faces, TIDAL, OnlyFans and Soulection, and putting on live events with acts such as Brent Faiyaz, Yeek, Veeze, bbno$, Rachel Platten and Omarion. With summer in full swing, Roney and team are now working on release events and larger brand partnerships, including a recent TIDAL x Duckwrth event around Black Music Month, and collabs with artists like bbno$. In her spare time, Roney makes and sells stained glass. We’re told we’ve stained the biz.
Emily Grabowski
Senior Director of Digital Marketing, Island
Witnessing Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan catapult into stardom at the same time will forever be a highlight for Grabowski. In addition to playing a key role in the stars’ digital marketing efforts—Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet is due on 8/23—Grabowski’s focused on digital for Shawn Mendes, Remi Wolf and her latest album, Big Ideas, The Killers (including their Vegas residency), plus more from Jessie Reyez, Lauren Spencer Smith, keshi, Bon Jovi and Dora Jar. Grabowski’s youth included surfing and ice-skating from middle school to college. We skipped P.E. daily.
Danyel Semple
Director, Business & Legal Affairs, Interscope
From helping negotiate Billie Eilish’s soundtrack deal for Barbie—leading to a sweep at award season—to being in a group chat with Jimmy Iovine about art for Interscope’s 30th anniversary and meeting d4vd and his family post-signing, Semple’s career has been beyond memorable. More recently, she was elated by the arrival of Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, the debut EP by her first country signing, Vincent Mason, and Marsha Ambrosius’s CASABLANCO. Semple has mastered the art of Thanksgiving turkey preparation six times over. We’ve been referred to as turkeys for at least 38 years.
Amy Davidson
Manager, Volara Management
Davidson was beyond proud to see Sabrina Carpenter earn her first #1 with “Please Please Please,” which also hit #1 on the Top 200 Global chart, followed by “Espresso” at #2. She was also chuffed to see Carpenter perform for millions of fans during sold-out stadium dates on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Next up: Carpenter’s first-ever arena tour this fall, which will hit 31 cities in the U.S., and her new album, Short N’ Sweet, due 8/23. The diminutive Davidson says she’s “5’0’’ on a good day.” We’ve never had a good day, so we don’t know what to tell you.
Gianna Duran
Publicity Manager, Primary Wave Music
Duran once witnessed Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen’s pre-MusiCares warm-up in a near-empty venue. Now, she’s promoting Melissa Etheridge’s live album and Paramount+ docuseries, I’m Not Broken, and managing PR for tours by Extreme, Jefferson Starship, Bell Biv DeVoe, Skid Row and Cypress Hill (the latter supporting the Last Prisoner Project). She’s also turning icons like Whitney Houston, James Brown and Bing Crosby into cookies for NYC’s Funny Face Bakery. Duran’s designed tattoos for some of her friends. We’ve got a “Hey Buddy” tramp stamp.
Jessie Land
Director, Streaming Strategy, Independent Co.
Artist Manager
Land’s landmark experiences include studio sessions with Alicia Keys, a holiday pajama party with Justin Timberlake and booking Teddy Swims to perform as part of her Under the Radar showcase. At Independent Co., she’s developing new talents like AMAG and Trousdale; on the management front, she’s working with acts like emerging pop artist Mercer Henderson and indie-pop duo DOUBLECAMP. At 15, Land serenaded Carlos Santana with her rendition of “Smooth,” making the “hair on his arms stand up.” Our singing has a similar effect on stomachs.
Jamie Dee Hart
Founder & CEO, Hart & Songs
Hart has aided songwriters and producers behind hits from Lizzo, BLACKSWAN, Tkay Maidza, and more secure +$1 million in unclaimed royalties. She also helped launch SoundCloud’s “Unsung Heroes,” a series spotlighting songwriters behind hit songs. Now, she’s expanding her artist management roster, which includes Koresma (150m+ streams) and newcomer Ryan Nealon, while growing the digital-rights collection arm of her company. Hart’s got a Latin Grammy nom for co-producing a live album at MSG for Miel San Marcos. Our shelf is groaning with participation trophies.
Eva Alexiou-Reo
Agent/Owner, Fata Booking Agency
Alexiou-Reo once stood with Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl in Houston as the pair watched her client perform—a standout moment in her 28-year career. Yet, she derives her biggest thrills by helping artists achieve their dreams. When she’s not booking acts on stages around the world, she’s enhancing the presence of Greek artists in the mainstream music industry, a personal passion project given her Greek American heritage. On a related note, Alexiou-Reo lives and works from a small Greek island each summer. She’s been careful not to tell us which one.
