TUNESPOTTER ACQUIRES SEARCH ENGINE WHAT-SONG

Tunespotter, founded by music supe Marc Morris and headed by CEO Joel Klaiman (pictured), has acquired search engine What-song.com, which attracts more than a million unique users every month.

The acquisition engages the public’s growing appetite for music discovery by combining the data and search power of two leading music-search platforms—enabling users to both listen to and watch the precise “sync” moments from movies, series, trailers, games and commercials.

“Tunespotter will hold a unique space in the market as the only audio and video database powering sync search and discovery for films, TV, commercials, gaming and more,” said Klaiman. “By acquiring What-song.com, one of the world’s leading resources for identification of songs from movies and shows, we’ve created an immediate funnel for licensed content, enhancing the journey our users will take for a more satisfying discovery experience.”

What-Song founder Tom Andrew shares Klaiman’s enthusiasm about the pairing. “I couldn’t be happier about Tunespotter acquiring What-song.com,” his quote reads. “It’s a perfect match at a pertinent time when the search and discovery market is becoming more prolific.”

Added Klaiman, “As music-driven content models continue to expand, consumers are seeking out platforms that not only cater to their interests but deliver state-of-the-art visuals and features. We've learned a lot about our users and this next evolution will deliver the experiences they want now. This deal ensures that Tunespotter will continue to grow as we innovate the way users discover music moments. I look forward to seeing stories about it in places other than HITS."
