The partnership of PULSE Records and Brent Faiyaz’s ISO Supremacy appears to be bearing fruit. The JV’s first signing, Tommy Richman, has sailed to #1 at Apple Music and #22 at Spotify U.S. (not to mention #1 Shazam) with his “Million Dollar Baby” after churning up big activity on TikTok.

23-year-old Virginian Richman’s inking to PULSE’s label and Faiyaz’s creative agency was announced last fall. The artist opened Faiyaz’s sold-out tour last year. The Pulse and ISO crews moved quickly once the song started connecting; the “distorted” sound of the version that appeared on TikTok was preserved in a “VHS” iteration (which, yes, was recorded with the aid of a VHS player) alongside a “clean” version.
“Baby,” with its mix of hip-hop, R&B and alternative vibes, has drawn comparisons to Prince, Tyler, The Creator, Beck and Steve Lacy, among others. How big will this thing get? See what you think.
