Eminem has announced the arrival of a new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), expected to drop this summer on Shady/Aftermath/Interscope. The news was delivered via the NFR podcast's Twitter account Thursday night (4/25), along with a trailer starring 50 Cent.
The clip, which arrived shortly after Eminem opened the 2024 NFL draft in the Motor City, includes footage from a fictional television show called Detroit Murder Files in which a reporter is investigating the killing of Slim Shady, Eminem's longtime alter ego.
"Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” he says. 50 Cent adds, “He’s not a friend; he’s a psychopath" before the investigator continues, “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”
The Death of Slim Shady is Eminem's 12th album and the first since 2020's Music To Be Murdered By, which moved roughly 279k units in its inaugural week. Watch the trailer below while we place bets on how many rappers he'll diss this time around.
