How's this for commitment? On a day off from his North American arena tour, Bruce Springsteen flew across the country yesterday and then right back to California to make a surprise appearance with country superstar Zach Bryan last night (3/27) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The Boss joined Warner's Bryan on the as-yet-unreleased tune "Sandpaper" to start the encore as the sold-out audience gasped and shrieked in delight. Springsteen then lent his guitar and vocal chops to the show-closing "Revival," which also featured Maggie Rogers. Rogers herself appeared unannounced earlier in the show to reprise her duet with Bryan on "Dawns."
Bryan is an avowed Springsteen devotee and was even wearing a vintage Bruce tour tee onstage last night. Having gotten underway earlier this month at Chicago's United Center, his AEG-promoted Quittin Time Tour is on its way to shifting 2 million tickets while hitting 60 arenas and 16 stadiums through December.
The Oologah, Oklahoma-bred musician is managed by Danny Kang and Stefan Max, both of whom we hope celebrated with a tall, cool Budweiser while AEG President of Global Touring Rich Schaefer sipped a vintage 2009 Brunello di Montalcino with distinction.
The Boss himself will be back in action tonight at San Francisco's Chase Center as part of a tour rescheduled from last year while he was battling peptic-ulcer disease.
