SUPER BOWL ADS SYNC WITH STARS
There were so many music stars pitching products on Super Bowl ads Sunday that they could have fielded their own team.
The Super Bowl ad from management-software company Workday used such rock stars as Ozzy Osbourne and Joan Jett to get C-suite suits to stop tagging their top employees as “rock stars.” Good point considering the number of music stars we saw making points for corporate clients on Super Sunday that no desk jockey could possibly handle.
Diddy was the chief executive in UberOne’s multi-spot campaign to find a hit song for the company; Dave Grohl extolled inventions from Canada for Crown Royal; and Snoop Dogg slipped into different shades of kicks for Skechers. Add to that two spots that went for humor—Jack Harlow, Missy Elliott and Elton John for Doritos and Sarah McLachlan for Busch Light—and, on a more serious note, the Nick Jonas pitch for a diabetes device, Dexcom.
On top of the appearances, there was a slew of prominent syncs, among them Lee Fields’ “Forever” for The Farmer’s Dog, Shaggy’s “Electric Boogie” for Jeep, Joan Jett’s “Real Wild Child” for the NFL and Men Without Hats’ “Safety Dance” for Intuit Turbo Tax.
Oh, and you may have noticed that U2 had something to promote as well; the lads have become real rock stars in the venue world.
Here are a few of the ads that caught our attention.
