UMG TO PULL THE PLUG ON TIKTOK

UMG’s contract-renewal negotiations with TikTok have ended without an agreement, meaning it’s now nearly “nuclear option” time. As a result of the stalled talks, the leading music group—including UMPG—will cease licensing music to the platform. The current deal expired Wednesday (1/31). UMG has issued an open letter to the artist and songwriter community explaining its stance; access it here. UMPG’s open letter to songwriters can be found here.

Stay tuned.
