During the second quarter of the Chiefs vs. Ravens game Sunday (1/28), CBS announcers noted that Taylor Swift would be among the attendees at 2/4’s Grammy Awards, having been nominated for, among other things, Album of the Year. If she emerges victorious, she'll break the record with four such wins (see below). She and SZA later appeared during a fourth-quarter on-air promo featuring other previously confirmed performers, who were nonetheless advertised only as being "all in one room" together at Crypto.com Arena. It's since been confirmed that SZA will, in fact, perform. Will Tay take the stage, too?
The Recording Academy says nothing is official yet. Several sources say she'll perform, while others are now telling us that she won't because of her concert schedule, which takes her to Japan soon. So: Is she or isn't she? It's possible she may be appearing but not performing, as was the case last year. Does she still get some candy if she shows up only as an attendee? We'd tend to say yes given the likely ratings boost the show will get with her on it (as those teasers underscored). Will Travis be at her side at one of those tables near the stage?
Wonderers are wondering: Did Grammy spill the beans and tell Republic star Swift she'd win Album, Song and/or Record (or some kind of lifetime achievement award) in order to secure her? There's no question that she's the most important celebrity for the Grammys. If it was necessary to spill the aforementioned beans to make it happen, you can bet that beans were spilled.
One way or another, Swift is expected to have a big night in front of her peers as she’s up for six noms this year, including AOTY for Midnights. She’s taken home the hardware three times in that category—a feat that ties her with Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon. The Swifties have most definitely entered the chat.
With the latest announcements, the Grammys performer lineup now encompasses SZA, Joni Mitchell, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Luke Combs, Billy Joel, Olivia Rodrigo, Burna Boy, Travis Scott and U2 live from its residency at Las Vegas' Sphere.
