PULSE RAISES THE BARR

PULSE Music Group co-CEOs Josh Abraham & Scott Cutler and President/Head of Creative Ashley Calhoun have named Nick Barr SVP of PULSE Records. He'll report to the triad from the company's offices in Silver Lake. In this new role, Barr will oversee digital marketing for PULSE Records and work in A&R.

Barr was previously VP, A&R and Creative Strategy at Island Records. During his tenure there, he signed Seattle artist Charlieonnafriday, who's currently supporting Tate McRae on her world tour. He also led campaigns for Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, Lauren Spencer Smith, Keshi and SleazyWorld Go, among others. Barr likewise played a role in the success of Lil Tjay, who's amassed more than 8b global streams as well as 15 platinum singles and multiple other hits.

Barr began his career while attending college in Louisville, Kentucky. In 2014 he helped launch Bryson Tiller. The following year he discovered and helped develop Khalid. Not bad for a youngster.

“Nick has an instinct for exceptional music and artists," said Abraham, Cutler and Calhoun in a joint statement. "He's highly respected for his proven ability to develop artists, many of whom he helped launch. His passion for A&R, coupled with his marketing and digital abilities, supports our mission of innovative service around our clients’ artistry."

Barr added that the decision to join PULSE was "easy" and praised the company for being "well positioned to be a creative leader in the label space." The decision to ignore our emails will be even easier.
