WEILAND'S LEGACY BECOMES A PRIMARY CONCERN

The estate of Scott Weiland has put the publishing copyrights and recording royalties for all of his repertoire in the hands of Primary Wave Music.

Primary Wave will now share in name, image and likeness rights with the estate. The deal includes all the music Weiland recorded with Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver and as a solo artist. The partnership encompasses such STP songs as “Creep,” “Interstate Love Song,” “Plush” and “Vasoline.” Weiland died in December 2015.

“There are few rock artists that had the impact Scott Weiland did,” said Larry Mestel, CEO and founder of Primary Wave Music. “Scott remains one of the most influential musicians in rock music. We're extremely grateful that the estate has chosen to partner with us to continue to grow his incredible legacy.”

Brian Harris Frank of Shelter Music Group and Dana Dufine of DBD Squared Entertainment, who manage the estate, called PWM “the perfect partners," adding in a joint statement, "We look forward to working with Larry, [PW CCO] Natalia [Nastaskin], [PW CMO] Adam [Lowenberg] and their teams and believe their ability to connect artists with the culture will ensure that Scott’s impact will be felt for generations.”

Nastaskin said Primary Wave would work on “expanding and extending Scott’s legacy” through new projects in film, television and the stage.
