In the newly created role of VP of Artist Development and Entertainment Strategy, Ming Lu will spearhead strategic initiatives for the development of Chinese-language artists and facilitate collaborations in multiple entertainment sectors for Universal Music Greater China.
Based in Beijing, he will report to UMGC Chairman & CEO Timothy Xu, who allowed, “With his keen insight into youth culture and strategic approach to the entertainment businesses, Lu will be instrumental to driving innovation and growth at the very heart of our business—providing the full spectrum of services and utmost opportunities for artists."
Lu was previously with Warner Music, where he was responsible for Chinese artist management and intellectual-property development. Capitalizing on the rising Gen Z hip-hop scene in China, Lu signed and developed several successful local hip-hop acts during his tenure at Warner.
Lu was previously director of Artist Management at Modern Sky, signing more than 30 artists and producing more than 20 albums.
