TAYLOR DONATES $1M TO TENNESSEE TORNADO RELIEF

Taylor Swift has donated $1m to the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee following Saturday's (12/9) deadly tornado, which claimed the lives of at least six people.

Hal Cato, CEO of the Community Foundation—whose response fund supports nonprofits providing immediate relief and short- and long-term recovery—confirmed Swift’s contribution.

Tennessee holds a special place in Swift's heart; she attended Hendersonville High School in Sumner County, one of several that were ravaged by storms. The tornado that devastated Clarksville, in Montgomery County, traversed an 11-mile path, with peak winds of 150 mph.

Swift's philanthropic spirit has been evident throughout the Eras Tour. Not only did she give her entire crew $55m in bonuses, she made generous contributions to food banks in every U.S. city she played. A spokesperson for the Arizona Food Bank Network told CNN that Swift’s donation allowed it to send tractor-trailers with 40,000 pounds of fresh produce to its member food banks while augmenting funding for programs that combat hunger. Second Harvest of Silicon Valley Food Bank said that during Swift's tour stop in Santa Clara, California, she donated enough “to nourish an average of about 500,000 people every month in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.”

The Eras Tour resumes overseas next year, beginning 2/7 in Tokyo. It will wrap 12/8 in Vancouver.
