DOWN UNDER WITH SPOTIFY HOUSE

Taking over the Lansdowne Hotel 10/18-21, Spotify House opened at the inaugural SXSW Sydney with a K-Night showcase and panel sessions.

Day one highlighted artists Sam Kim, JUNNY and So!YoON!, while Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial, Music, Sulinna Ong (pictured right) and Editorial & Partnerships Lead, Missing Perspectives, Alicia Vrajlal, gave attendees an insight into Spotify’s editorial machine.

As part of the panel, Ong and Vrajlal showcased how the platform serves its 551m+ listeners in a personalized way, as well as touched on the editorial playlists that help new audiences discover Korean music, such as K-Pop ON!, KrOWN, Trenchill K-R&B, In the K-Indie and more.

“As witnessed by our Spotify House K-Night at SXSW Sydney, we’re always looking for ways to showcase the wide range of Korea’s music scene and will continue to do our best to connect more Korean artists to more fans and listeners worldwide,” said Spotify’s Head of Music, South Korea, Jungjoo Park.

“Spotify has always embraced the best of human cultural knowledge with the best of technology. It’s important for us to have experts in local markets – the marriage between that global scale and local knowledge is what enables us to help music travel across markets around the world,” added Ong.
