The Rolling Stones’ fabled tongue-and-lips logo will replace that of Spotify on the jerseys of the FC Barcelona men's football team during its 10/28 El Clásico match against rival Real Madrid, while the women's team will wear the saucy insignia on 11/5 during the match against Sevilla. The pairing comes in celebration of the Stones’ new Geffen album, Hackney Diamonds, and the jersey is part of a limited-edition merch line dropping 10/23 through the FC Barcelona store, also boasting tongue-and-lips-specific t-shirts, hoodies, bomber jackets, and bucket hats.
Only 1,899 jerseys will be sold, with an additional 22 having been signed by the 11 starting players on the respective men’s and women’s teams. FC Barcelona’s Spotify playlist Barça Matchday will also be updated to include music from the Stones to get the blood pumping before the games begin.
“Only Spotify could bring The Rolling Stones to the global stage of El Clásico—one of the few stages they haven’t played,” enthuses Spotify VP of partnerships Marc Hazan.
“Yet again our collaboration with Spotify has taken things to the next level,” adds FC Barcelona VP of marketing Juli Guiu. “Bringing together two icons—the Rolling Stones logo and the Barça jersey—is a special moment for our fans around the world.”
It’s the second major sports partnership for the Stones during the Hackney promo rollout, following a team-up with Major League Baseball for the release of limited-edition new album vinyl with custom art for each of the 30 MLB teams.
