Kacey Musgraves has joined Mercury/Republic’s Noah Kahan for an updated version of “She Calls Me Back.”
Originally featured on 2022’s Stick Season, the single bears some new lyrics, a verse and a female perspective courtesy of the Grammy-winning country star.
“Kacey Musgraves is the coolest person ever. Not exaggerating when I say that during the Stick Season album process, we would finish a song and I’d listen back and be like ‘Can you imagine Kacey on this?’ Having her sing on ‘She Calls Me Back’ is incredible, and being able to have her continue telling the story adds a whole new dimension to the song and what it means,” said Kahan.
The new track is the latest in a series of collaborations for Kahan. He previously he welcomed Post Malone onto “Drunk Dial” and Lizzy McAlpine for “Call Your Mom,” as well as teamed up with Zach Bryan for “Sarah’s Place” from the country star’s Boys of Faith EP.
Kahan is currently in the midst of the final North American leg of his 2023 Stick Season Tour. Following a stint of overseas dates in November, he’ll return in February for his expansive 2024 We’ll All Be Here Forever Tour, which includes more than 30 dates across the U.S., U.K. and Europe.
