STRIKING WRITERS ALLOWED TO RETURN TO WORK

Members of the Writers Guild of America may return to work today (9/27) with a ratification vote for the three-year contract being held 10/2-9.

The WGA West is holding a member meeting Wednesday at 7pm at the Hollywood Palladium; WGA East is meeting at Manhattan Center at 6pm.

Among the items in the new agreement are several relating to AI. AI cannot write or rewrite literary material and writers retain credit if AI-generated material is used; writers can choose to use AI but companies cannot require writer to use AI software. Full details have not been released.

The latenight talkshows starring Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers and Jimmy Kimmel have set 10/2 for their returns.

SAG-AFTRA continues its strike, which has now lasted 75 days. Talks with the AMPTP are expected to resume next week.
