UPDATE: In the wake of seaside troubadour supreme and Parrothead patron Jimmy Buffett's passing, the singer-songwriter's legion of fans (among others) have flocked to DSPs to honor his considerable musical output.
The mega-hit, lifestyle template and worldwide merchandising brand inspiration "Margaritaville" sits at #6 on Spotify's U.S. Top 50, where "Cheeseburger in Paradise" is #30 and several other tracks are moving up. "Margaritaville" is #13 at Apple Music, with some of Buffett's other material making its way up the streamer's Top Songs.
Meanwhile, Buffett is utterly dominating the iTunes store. "Margaritaville" tops the chart, the poignant "Come Monday" has landed at #3 and "Cheeseburger in Paradise" (which prompted the launch of a restaurant chain early this millennium) is served up at #5. A live rendition of "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" holds the #6 position, followed by "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes" at #7. And plenty of other Buffett tunes are bubbling under the Top 10.
On the album chart, the greatest-hits set Songs You Know by Heart (first issued in 1985) owns the top spot, while Boats, Beaches, Bars & Ballads is #3, Live at Fenway Park is #4, Buffett Live: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays is #5, Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes holds #6, Life on the Flip Side luxuriates at #7, Songs You Don't Know by Heart occupies #9 and License to Chill rounds out the Top 10. More Buffett albums dot the rest of the Top 25.
Since you'll want to toast the late, great JB with an appropriate libation while blasting these easygoing tunes, here's a Buffett-approved margarita recipe.
