It's official: Interscope has inked budding Latin star Ivan Cornejo. As we previously reported, multiple labels were vying to sign the buzzing 19-year-old singer-songwriter, one of the most promising new acts in the música Mexicana world and one of the most-streamed Latin acts in the U.S. (with north of 1b global streams thus far). Cornejo released his new single, “Aquí Te Espero,” on 7/28.

Now that the signing is done, let the quotes begin.

“At Interscope we have always been attracted to artists who move the culture, and Ivan has already proven he is on that path,” said Interscope Geffen A&M Records Chairman and CEO John Janick. “He is absolutely one of the most exciting new artists in music, and we're looking forward to working with him and his team on the next chapter of his incredible career.”

Interscope EVP Nir Seroussi said: “Ivan is truly a special artist, a songwriter of depth and a masterful live performer. In a very short time he built a passionate and loyal fan base that has propelled him up the charts. We’re so proud that he’s chosen Interscope as his new creative home.”

Cornejo, who kicked off his Terapia Tour last week in Chicago, commented: “I am really excited to begin this new chapter of my career. It’s been a long road even though my career is young and we have built a really strong foundation up until now. I am looking forward to working with John and Nir and the entire team at Interscope to continue to build and take my project to the next level.”
