Word has it that an intense contest involving several majors is underway for Mexican American singer-songwriter Ivan Cornejo. We’re told there’s been action on both coasts—and considerable buzz out of Miami—in pursuit of the 19-year-old breakout, who was previously inked to indie regional Mexican label Manzana.
Whoever prevails will land one of the most promising acts in música Mexicana. Though Cornejo doesn’t release music with the velocity of some of his peers, he ranks among the most-streamed Latin acts in the U.S., amassing north of 1 billion global streams. He recently announced his biggest U.S. trek yet, the Terapia Tour, which is already sold out.
Where will this young phenom end up? Stay tuned.
