COCKER GETS BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM ICONIC FRIENDS

The estate of Joe Cocker has entered into an agreement with Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists Group to introduce Cocker’s legacy to a new generation.

"Joe’s life was in his voice,” said Cocker’s widow, Pam Cocker. “There are so many great performances in his musical legacy, and we are delighted that the team at Iconic share our ambition that, with their skill, his band of ‘friends’ will continue to grow through listening, discovering and rediscovering."

Cocker’s career lasted more than 50 years. Known for his interpretations of songs by The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, he performed at Woodstock and the Isle of Wight in 1969 and his 1970 Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour established him as a major rock force. Subsequent success came with pop ballads: “You Are So Beautiful” in 1974 and “Up Where We Belong,” a duet with Jennifer Warnes for the movie An Officer and a Gentleman that earned a 1983 Grammy Award.

Cocker received the distinction of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 2008.

“Joe Cocker is an unparalleled interpreter of song, and there is no mistaking his uniquely distinct, straight-from-the-heart delivery,” said Iconic President Jimmy Edwards. “We are honored to work with Joe’s family and be the custodians of his powerful body of work."
