IT'S TAYLOR'S ERA—WE JUST LIVE IN IT (UPDATE)

With the first half of 2023 in the rearview, there’s a whole lot to say about Republic’s Taylor Swift. Her gigantic, sold-out Eras Tour is earning effusive press and fervent chatter on the socials—and clearly spiking activity at DSPs, retail and e-tail.

Indeed, the superstar’s chart action is absolutely eye-popping. No fewer than nine Tay titles occupy the upper 40 spots of the most recent album chart, accounting for more than a quarter-million in U.S. activity. Not bad for a week’s work.

Leading the charge is her most recent full-length, Midnights, which has done north of 1.8m in YTD U.S. activity, two-thirds of that in streams and one-third in pure sales. Then there are prior releases Lover (nearly 668k YTD), folklore (590k+), 1989 (512k+) and RED (Taylor’s Version) (467k+), to name just the top performers among her earlier recordings.

Meanwhile, just in time for the seasonal heat, Taylor has launched “Cruel Summer,” from 2019’s Lover, into the stratosphere by releasing it as a single—four years after the album drop. The song is currently in the Top 5 of Spotify’s global and U.S. charts and trending Top 20 at Pop radio, where “Karma,” from Midnights, is #3.

Oh, and on 6/27 she announced a sixth date (8/7) at L.A.'s SoFi Stadium. Did we mention that The Eras Tour was big?

What astounding feat will this musical juggernaut unveil next? We’ll keep you posted.
