TAYLOR TACKLES AI FOR SONY MUSIC

Sony Music has tapped former BPI chief Geoff Taylor MBE to head up the company’s Artificial Intelligence efforts. He reports to CEO Kevin Kelleher.

As EVP, Artificial Intelligence, Taylor will work with the Global Digital Business and Business & Legal Affairs divisions, aligning and helping coordinate every part of the operation that touches AI.

Taylor was chief executive of the U.K. trade body BPI from 2007 to 2022, which followed a two-year stint at IFPI as general counsel and EVP.

“In these roles, Geoff has worked with our company for several years and I'm delighted he's joining to help us successfully navigate a key moment in the history of the music industry,” Kelleher wrote in a memo to staff obtained by HITS.

We have so many questions. For example: Can they make a robot promotion guy yet?
