Olivia Rodrigo will release her new single, “vampire,” on Geffen 6/30.
“vampire” is the first new music from Rodrigo since the 5/21/21 release of SOUR, her chart-topping debut album. The single was written by Rodrigo and producer Daniel Nigro, who also collaborated with her on SOUR. Her first demo of "vampire," exclusive to the CD and 7-inch pressing, can be preordered here.
SOUR has sold more than 18m units globally and crossed 4.8m in ATD domestically. Two of its singles, "drivers license" and "good for you," each boast more than 1.8b global Spotify streams, while two others, "traitor" and "deja vu," are each sitting at north of 1.2b.
Thanks to SOUR, Rodrigo received seven Grammy nominations—including nods in each of the Big Four categories—and took home trophies for Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 64th Grammy Awards.
Rodrigo teased that "something" would be arriving soon with a cryptic countdown posted to her website earlier this month. Now we know what that something is.
As you can see here, the "vampire" single art presents two purple Band-Aids crossed on Rodrigo's neck, presumably where a vampire would suck her blood. We suck, too, but just at life in general.
