The Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) will host a panel dubbed “The MLC Presents: The Writer Behind the Song (Black Music Month Edition)" on 6/7, followed by the workshop “From Beat to Bank: Dissecting the Flow of Digital Music Royalties" on 6/22.
The former will be moderated by Janishia Jones, CEO of Fresh ‘N Sassy Productions, and see the participation of artist Latashá, singer-songwriter Stephanie Jacques and Grammy-nominated songwriter/CEO of The Mezzo Agency Tami LaTrell.
The latter, designed for aspiring hip-hop and R&B creators, will be led by The MLC’s Dae Bogan and produced by Not Just Country Music and The MLC. It will demystify music rights, income entitlements, publishing administration and the distribution of U.S. digital music royalties.
The events will serve as platforms for education and empowerment by magnifying Black voices and providing invaluable resources to creators.
The MLC's mission is to foster an environment in which Black artists and creators can achieve recognition and rightful compensation for their contributions to the music industry.
“The Writer Behind the Song (Black Music Month Edition)” will commence at 4pm CT. Register here. “From Beat to Bank” will transpire 4-6pm CT. Register here.
Seen wishing anyone but HITS were making this announcement are Jones (in pink) and Bogan.
