VAL POSITIONED

Val Blavatnik has been elected to WMG’s board of directors and appointed to its executive committee, the company has announced. He replaces Alex Blavatnik, who has been a director since 2011 (when Access Industries, led by Val's papa, Len, acquired the music group; Alex is Len's brother).

Val has latterly served on the investment team at LionTree and been a production executive at TV/film shop Eden Productions. He’s also been on the board of the WMG/Blavatnik Family Foundation Social Justice Fund.

Board Chairman Michael Lynton declared that the young Blavatnik would “bring a fresh perspective as we chart the future of WMG.”

For his part, Val voiced his excitement “to be joining the board during this dynamic, transformational time at WMG, with so many innovative opportunities ahead for artists and songwriters.”

And while Val’s on his yacht, we’ll be patching up the hole in our canoe.
