TOP 50: MORE MORGAN, SWIFT SURGE

Big Loud/Mercury/Republic’s Morgan Wallen spends a third consecutive week at #1 on the HITS Top 50, with his 36-track juggernaut, One Thing at a Time, posting 206k. The set surpasses SZA’s SOS (TDE/RCA)—which clocks in at #2 this week—for the lead in the YTD activity race.

Monte Lipman’s Republic fans its hot streak into a full-blown inferno, landing 12 titles in the Top 25, as the launch of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour ignites consumption of the superstar’s catalog. Swift has seven albums in the Top 50, five of which fall under the Republic banner. Six crack the Top 25. Midnights jumps to #3.

Another Republic biggie, The Weeknd, puts two albums in the Top 15, led by 2016’s Starboy (XO). Abel was named the world’s most popular act last week by Guinness World Records―he enjoys a record-setting 111.4 million (and counting) monthly listeners on Spotify.

U2’s Songs of Surrender (Interscope) is the week’s top debut at #5 with 46k. The Irish legends’ new offering, which topped the U.K. album chart, sets the pace in physical sales (41k).

Streeting this week are new projects by Interscope’s Lana Del Rey, BIGHIT/Geffen’s Jimin, River House/Columbia Nashville’s Luke Combs, Crush’s Fall Out Boy, LVRN/Interscope’s 6LACK, Big Machine’s Carly Pearce and Columbia’s Depeche Mode.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to ask some children how the TikTok ownership dilemma will affect the balance of international trade. See the full HITS Top 50 chart here.
