A NEW PRIORITY FOR CMG

Sugarhill Ddot, a blossoming New York City drill rapper, has inked with Priority Records, marking the first signing to the recently relaunched hip-hop label since Orlando Wharton climbed aboard at Capitol Music Group.

Just 15 years old, the artist took his name from the historic Harlem neighborhood of Sugar Hill, where he grew up. (It also happens to take after the legendary Sugar Hill Records and trailblazing hip-hop group The Sugarhill Gang.)

Wharton, who now serves as EVP CMG and Priority Records president, confidently stated, “We’re bringing New York back. Sugarhill Ddot is a star in the making to ignite the resurgence of Priority Records.”

Ddot added, “Being signed to Priority Records is a blessing. I thought being a signed artist would never be possible. I’m grateful for this opportunity.”

Sugarhill Ddot has received notable co-signs from Drake and Lil Durk. Tracks such as “Evil Twins,” “Evil Twins, Pt. 2” f/ Notti Osama, “Lost Boy,” “I Wanna Love You” and “40s N 9s” with DD Osama have racked up millions of streams and YouTube views.

Seen in the photo wishing anybody but HITS had made the announcement are (l-r) CMG A&R Manager Sarah Abdallah, Ddot and Wharton.
