GOING ON TOUR?
READ THIS

There’s a new book out, Touring and Mental Health: The Music Industry Manual, that aims to help create a healthier culture around life on the road. Psychotherapist Tamsin Embleton is the editor.

Published by Omnibus, the hefty tome was produced with the support of Live Nation. It covers a wide range of topics, including depression, group dynamics, nutrition and post-tour recovery, written by health professionals. Interviews with artists like Nile Rodgers, Justin Hawkins, Taylor Hanson and Lauren Mayberry are peppered throughout.

Said Live Nation CEO and President Michael Rapino, “It’s so valuable to have a resource built by people who understand the industry and the unique dynamics of touring, which is why we jumped at the opportunity to support what Tamsin was building with the Touring and Mental Health manual."

Philip Selway of Radiohead called it “invaluable,” adding, “It should be the first thing we all pack when we head out on the road.”

Might we add that Touring and Mental Health is an excellent accompaniment to Sound Advice, written by our own Rhian Jones, which covers the health issues musicians come up against and offers tools and techniques to help. (For those in the U.S., an international edition will land this year.)
