Big Loud/Mercury/Republic’s Morgan Wallen lands a massive #1 bow on the HITS Top 50 with his third studio album, One Thing at a Time. The 36-track set dominated DSPs throughout the week, setting country streaming records at Spotify and Amazon Music while holding prime real estate atop Apple Music. It opens north of 492k, the biggest debut of the year and the biggest since Taylor Swift’s Midnights. The album now ranks in the Top 5 all-time-biggest streaming weeks with 470m+ streams, joining blockbusters by Drake and Swift.
With 375k in pre-album activity, Wallen’s One Thing is already positioned at #2 in YTD activity. Next week it will likely surpass the year’s leader, SZA’s SOS (TDE/RCA)—#2 on this week’s chart—as both albums approach the 1m mark for 2023.
33 of 36 tracks from Wallen’s opus debuted on our Top 50 Song Streams chart, led by pre-release cut “Last Night,” which scored a commanding #1 with 34m streams. Meanwhile, Wallen’s sophomore monster, Dangerous: The Double Album, remains nestled at #6. It’s done north of 7m in U.S. activity.
Female Latin stars figure prominently in the Top 5, with Karol G’s MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO (UMLE) moving to #3 in its second week and Geffen’s Kali Uchis entering at #5 with Red Moon in Venus, her biggest bow yet.
Streeting this week are new titles by Columbia’s Miley Cyrus, JYP/Imperial/Republic’s TWICE and Mercury Nashville’s The War and Treaty, to name a few.
We hope you’re weathering the weather comfortably. Pro tip: If the rain starts seeping in, back issues of HITS are excellent for plugging leaks. Go to the full chart here.
