Variety is reporting that the Michael Jackson estate is near to closing a deal to sell 50% of its interest in the late superstar's catalog, including publishing, recordings, the MJ: The Musical stage spectacular and an upcoming biopic, to Sony and an undisclosed financial partner.
Estate co-executors John Branca and John McClain declined to comment for the story, which estimates the value of the arrangement to be as much as $900 million.
The Variety story claims that the deal would be the biggest to date in the mega-catalog marketplace. Stay tuned.
