HALL IN THE FAMILY

Capitol Music Group ruler Michelle Jubelirer presided over a companywide town hall on 1/31 for the label's new and developing artists to present their music to her extended team, including UMG overlord Sir Lucian Grainge.

Highlights included a performance by 10K Projects rapper Ice Spice, a chat with the label's Elliot Grainge, Zach Friedman and Tony Talamo and a conversation between TDE/Capitol artist Doechii and Spotify’s Carl Chery. Participants were also presented with new music from CMG labels Motown, Blue Note, Astralwerks and Capitol Christian Music Group, as well as video shout-outs from Katy Perry, Natalie Jane, Lewis Capaldi and Queen Naija.

Niall Horan performed for the first time in three years, while Halsey was hailed by the RIAA for being “one of the top artists of the streaming era” and earning her first diamond certification, for “Without Me" from 2018's Manic.

During Jubelirer’s introductory remarks, she noted how the company’s momentum and persistence have “reinvigorated” CMG “to compete in any deal, forge new and beneficial partnerships and break artists in nearly every genre of popular music.”

Seen being delighted by Sir Lucian's illuminating pointers on how to "tear a DSP a new one" are (l-r) CMG President of A&R Jeremy Vuernick, Jubelirer, Niall Horan and CMG President Arjun Pulijal.

Pictured just prior to a brainstorming session about a possible Spice House tie-in for buzzing artist Ice Spice—ideally involving smoked paprika—are Talamo, Friedman, Jubelirer, Spice, Elliot Grainge, Spice manager James Rosemond Jr., Pulijal and Vuernick.

CMG EVP and President of Promotion Greg Marella quietly wonders whether we still have the photos of him at that pizza-eating contest at a P3 in Tuscaloosa. Observed adhering to the "buddy" system are (l-r) Pulijal, Jubelirer, Halsey, Marella and Vuernick.
