WILLIE AT 90: THE BOWL WILL BE LOADED

To mark Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday on 4/29, about three dozen musicians will take to the Hollywood Bowl stage—Willie as well—to celebrate the music and legacy of the Red-Headed Stranger.

The list of performers is lengthy; here are a few of the bigger ones: Beck, Chris Stapleton, Neil Young, The Lumineers, The Chicks and Tom Jones. Stylistically, the bill cuts a broad swath—Kacey Musgraves to Ziggy Marley to Bob Weir to Snoop Dogg.

The two Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90 concerts, staged by Blackbird Presents and Live Nation Hewitt-Silva, will take place on 4/29 and 30. Mark Rothbaum, Keith Wortman, Bill Silva, Brian Smith and Creative Artists Agency will serve as executive producers of the presentation, which will feature once-in-a-lifetime performances and collaborations.

"I can’t think of a better way to spend my 90th birthday than being surrounded by family, friends and of course the fans who made this all possible," said Nelson. “It's an honor to perform with such an incredible group of artists at such an iconic venue.”

Two-day packages go on sale to the general public Saturday (1/28). The presale starts Wednesday (1/25). Details can be found here.

Travelers on the 101 through the Cahuenga Pass are urged to use caution that weekend as heavy smoke clouds are expected.

Sony’s Legacy will release Nelson's next studio album, I Don't Know a Thing About Love, new versions of 10 Harlan Howard songs, on 3/3.
