Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon turns 50 in March. To celebrate, Warner Music and Sony Music will issue a deluxe boxed set encompassing a 1974 live version of the 15x platinum album (Sony will handle the release outside Europe).
Arriving 3/24, the set will include a CD and vinyl gatefold LP of the newly remastered studio album along with Blu-Ray + DVD audio featuring the original 5.1 mix and remastered stereo versions. The package also boasts a new Blu-Ray disc of an Atmos mix, plus CD and LPs of The Dark Side of the Moon–Live at Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974.
Live at Wembley will also be released independently. It was recorded in November 1974 as part of the band's winter tour, and this is the first time it will be available as a stand-alone album, with artwork featuring a 1973 cover line-drawn by George Hardie. The boxed set book, Pink Floyd–The Dark Side of the Moon: 50th Anniversary, will likewise be published separately, by Thames & Hudson. The LP-sized volume, created with the involvement of the band members, showcases rare and previously unseen photographs taken during the Dark Side of the Moon tours of 1972-1975.
Pink Floyd is also sponsoring an animation contest.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the debut of The Dark Side of the Moon at the London Planetarium, an official full-dome experience will be released in planetariums around the world in March.
Anyone who still wants to sync the album with The Wizard of Oz has to buy the film separately.
