YouTube's LadBaby has made U.K. Official Chart history by claiming the Christmas singles #1 for a fifth consecutive year. Over on albums, Taylor Swift is back on top.
LadBaby's “Food Aid” (BMG), which is raising funds for food-bank charity the Trussell Trust and the Band Aid Foundation, has topped the Official Singles Chart with over 65k in sales. It’s the fastest-selling single of 2022 to date. The duo has broken a long-held chart record set by The Beatles, who previously had the most Christmas #1s with four.
In second place is “Last Christmas” (Epic) by Wham!, the most-streamed track of the week with 12.9m plays. YouTube supergroup Sidemen (comprised of KSI, Vik and Tobi) is the week’s highest climber as the self-released “Christmas Drillings” f/JME rises 38 places to #3.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” (Columbia) by Mariah Carey is #4, and Ed Sheeran & Elton John’s “Merry Christmas” (Atlantic/EMI) is at #5.
On the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, Swift’s Midnights (EMI) returns to #1 for a third week. The set finished with over 17k in sales ahead of its closest competitor, Christmas With Cliff (East West/Rhino), at #2.
Michael Bublé’s Christmas (Reprise) rises one to #3, while SZA's SOS (RCA/Top Dawg) moves down to #4. Andrea Bocelli and his children, Matteo and Virginia, climb two slots to #5 with A Family Christmas (Decca).
