MONDAII AWARDED MUSIC MAKERS GRANT

The Black Music Action Coalition has awarded Mondaii its 2022 Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Music Makers Grant.

The Atlanta artist was presented with the $5,000 grant during a BMAC interview and listening session that included a conversation about the industry with Jam, Lewis and BMAC co-founder/Co-Chairman Willie “Prophet” Stiggers.

Over the next 12 months, BMAC, Jam and Lewis will mentor Mondaii, who plans to use the grant to release his upcoming project, Boy Interrupted. He will also be provided with local studio time and additional industry mentorship.

“Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are two of the greatest examples of the musical genius that has emerged from the Black experience," said Prophet. "Music has the power to heal, inspire and motivate, and we must ensure we're supporting the next generation of storytellers and musicians and the creative community as a whole."
