Kendrick Lamar has unveiled a stunning new video for "Count Me Out," which appears on his Grammy Album of the Year nominee, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers (pgLang/TDE/ Aftermath/Interscope).
Co-directed by Lamar and his pgLang partner, Dave Free, the clip stars Dame Helen Mirren as K. Dot's therapist, who's attempting to understand why he's sent her a text at 2am that reads, "I feel like I've fallen." From there, Lamar erupts into the lyrics of the song, which find him grappling with fame and the vicissitudes of a "complex soul." The video also features cameos by Free, ex-Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, venture capitalist Vivi Nevo, pgLang signee Tanna Leone and Lamar's wife, Whitney Alford, among others.
Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers' "The Heart Part 5" is nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video and Best Rap Performance Grammys. Read more about the Rap noms here and take in the "Count Me Out" clip below.
Meanwhile, we'll continue to search for a therapist who will help us interpret our complicated feelings about Batman without falling asleep.
