Word has it that Quality Control, hitherto a JV distribution deal made with UMG’s Capitol/Motown during the Steve Barnett era, is making a move to WMG, according to players close to the action. Co-founders Coach K and P’s management/label concern is said to be valued in the neighborhood of $450m, though in the event of such a move, existing QC acts (including Lil Baby) would remain with UMG. There is said to be a film/TV component to the planned next chapter—K and P have reportedly been prepping a competition TV show—as well as a sports-management wing, and there’s even been talk of a QC ride at Disney World. Will outgoing Motown boss Ethiopia Habtemariam be involved in the next chapter? Stay tuned.
