Republic's Taylor Swift is set to make her directorial debut; the megastar has inked a deal with Searchlight Pictures. The studio will produce a film based on Swift's original script.
Searchlight Presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield issued a joint statement: “Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller. It's a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.”
Tay hit the film-festival circuit to promote All Too Well: Short Film, which she wrote and directed and which is considered to be in the mix for an Academy Award nomination.
How Swift, who just scheduled a massive 2023 stadium tour on the heels of the year's biggest album launch, will find the time to make a feature film is beyond us. Like nearly everything she's involved in, however, don't be surprised if the project is a critical and commercial success. Peep Swift's directing chops below.
