U.K. CHARTS: MURS, MARRY & MARIAH

Olly MursMarry Me (EMI) becomes his fifth set to top the U.K.'s Official Albums Chart, while Mariah Carey returns to her throne as the Queen of Christmas.

Murs’ Marry Me, his seventh album, is his first #1 since 2016’s 24 HRS.

Murs fought off competition from Taylor Swift’s Midnights (EMI), which rose one slot to #2, and the new release from Metro Boomin, Heroes & Villains (Island), at #3. It’s the Atlanta rapper’s highest-charting album to date. He also puts two singles into the Top 40, “Creepin’” f/The Weeknd and 21 Savage at #13 and "Superhero" with Future and Chris Brown at #39.

Four Christmas albums deck the middle of the Top 10: Cliff Richard’s Christmas With Cliff (East West/Rhino) at #4; Michael Bublé’s Christmas (Reprise) at #5; Silver Bells (Decca) by Andre Rieu at #6; and A Family Christmas by Andrea, Matteo and Virginia Bocelli (Decca) at #7.

The next-highest debut is Leftfield’s This Is What We Do (Virgin), the British electronic-music duo’s first new studio record in seven years, at #18.

As far as singles, Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (Columbia) enjoys its second stint at #1, having notched 10.8m streams over the past seven days. Carey ends Swift’s six-week reign at #1 with “Anti-Hero,” which drops to #5.

"All I Want" is but one of five stocking stuffers stuffing the Top 10; Wham!’s “Last Christmas” (Epic) is #4, Ed Sheeran & Elton John’s “Merry Christmas” (Atlantic/EMI) is #5, Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” (MCA) is #6 and Bublé’s “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” serves up the eggnog at #10.

Stormzy’s ballad “Firebabe” (0207 Def Jam) cracks the Top 10 for the first time, rising two places to #9.

Lewis Capaldi’s new single, “Pointless,” (EMI) enters at #20.
