Island-signed R&B group FLO have won the 2023 BRITs Rising Star Award. They are the first group to win the gong.

FLO—consisting of 20-year-olds Renée, Jorja and Stella—topped competition that included RCA act Cat Burns and labelmate Nia Archives.

“We are so shocked and grateful,” they said. “We’ve just made history and couldn’t have done it without our wonderful fans and supportive families. It’s truly a dream come true. We feel so empowered creating the music we love and we hope others feel that too.”

This year, FLO released their debut single, “Cardboard Box,” gaining fans in the likes of Brandy, JoJo, SZA and Missy Elliott. Their first EP, The Lead, landed in summer and has since amassed over 70m global streams. Read more about them in our profile from the recent HITS U.K. special issue.

Past winners of the award include Adele, Sam Smith, Sam Fender, Griff and Ellie Goulding.

The BRIT Awards take place in London at The O2 Arena on 2/11.
