OLIVIA, MARTIN & GEORGE

Martin Scorsese and Olivia Harrison discussed the inspiration for her poetry book Came the Lightening: Twenty Poems for George and her life with the late George Harrison in conversation at the 92nd Street Y. Genesis Publications will release the volume in a limited edition on 12/6.

In the book, Harrison examines her relationship with her husband, delving into the passage of time after losing a partner. It also includes a selection of photographs and mementos and a drawing by musician-artist Klaus Voormann.* Scorsese wrote the introduction.

Harrison signed the first 500 copies, a deluxe edition that includes four loose-leaf, fine-art prints, the poem “Carved in Stone” presented as a traditional letterpress print and two handcrafted items: a sacred-heart milagro charm and an engraved Came the Lightening bookmark.

*Voormann's association with The Beatles dates back to their time in Hamburg in the early 1960s. He lived in the band's London flat with George and Ringo after John and Paul moved out to live with their respective partners. He designed the cover of their 1966 album Revolver, for which he won a Grammy.
