Amazon overlord Jeff Bezos and partner Lauren Sanchez have chosen Dolly Parton as the latest recipient of the $100 million Bezos Courage & Civility Award, which recognizes leaders who “pursue solutions with courage and civility,” Reuters reports.
A clip of the announcement ceremony posted on Instagram found Sanchez hailing Parton as “a woman who gives with her heart and leads with love and compassion in every aspect of her work," further enthusing, "We can’t wait to see all the good you’re going to do with this $100 million award.”
Accepting the award, Parton said, “Wow! Did you say $100 million? I think people who are in a position to help should put their money where their heart is. I will do my best to do good things with this money.”
Dolly adds this honor to her enshrinement in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. HBO will air that ceremony Saturday (11/19).
