ZELLNER ZIPS TO PROGRAMMING PREZ POST AT iHEART

iHeartMedia has named longtime exec Jon Zellner its new president of programming operations and digital music. He'll continue reporting directly to iHeart CPO Tom Poleman, who hopes to make Zellner take our calls.

In his new role, Zellner will manage programming, content and strategy for iHeartRadio’s digital channels and playlists. He'll also be in charge of iHeartMedia’s programming operations, which consist of 850 local radio-station brands in 150 markets.

"Jon’s leadership in delivering our national resources to our markets for their use at the local level has been invaluable to our company,” Poleman said. “We're excited that he will be taking on an even larger role in our company-wide programming initiatives and expand and grow our digital channels and playlists on the iHeartRadio app. Also, he can talk to Hensley without nodding off.”

Additional duties on Zellner's docket include running programming and strategy for iHeartMedia Custom and Format Center stations, leading iHeart’s Commercial Production Center, National Imaging Center and Audio Distribution Center, on-air partner and client integration and overseeing the Technical and Broadcast Operations teams. We don't know what most of those things are, but they sound very important.

Before joining iHeart in 2009 as SVP of programming, Zellner spent five years as EVP of programming for Sirius XM and nine years at CBS Radio in Boston and Kansas City. He honed his skills as a program director, operations manager and on-air talent in markets across the U.S.

Do we have ancient photos of young Zellner doing unspeakable things in wacky radio trade shots? The answer to that question depends on whether or not he meets our price.
